Sabir makes contact
In an e-mail dated 11 December, Dr. Atif said: "Yesterday I received from Daniel and Jeremy a very impressive newsletter about Project Sabir. It is a really excellent product, I appreciate their efforts.Unfortunately Sabir cannot communicate freely in English but everybody feels that this collaboration will make a historical change in his life and for all his colleagues and generation who will feel proud about the Scout brotherhood between the UK and Sudan.
Sabir is from a very poor family, he used to sell water using a donkey cart in order to help his father to get money to feed the family.
Sabir helped his father to build their little house and he is working hard in scouting in order to help other people to be free of leprosy in his county, which is located in the greater Khartoum State. Any way you will find attached some photos for Sabir in action .. please share it with Daniel and Jeremy and other Scouts to know that in spite of the difficult situation still young people join scouting .. and your scout initiative lets such a person like Sabir see the future outside of his own country.
Thank you and best regards, Dr. Atif" In just over two weeks time they will all finally meet at the 20th World Scout Jamboree! Click here to read issue 1 of the Project Sabir Newsletter.
